Product Measurement and Sizing Guide
| Measurement | Details |
|---|---|
| 1 - Seat Depth | Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg |
| 2 - Back Height | Measured from the seat base to the top of the wheelchair back. Depends on how much upper back support is needed, and also affects freedom for the upper body to rotate. |
| 3 - Rear Seat to Floor | Measurement from the ground to the rear seat edge. Relative to the front seat-to-floor dimension, this determines the rearward slope ("dump" or "squeeze") of the wheelchair seat |
| 4 - Hanger Angle | Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular |
| 5 - Seat Width | Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant |
| 6 - Wheel Camber | Angle of the wheel relative to the vertical. More camber improves stability and agility, but also limits ability to pass through narrow spaces. A typical daily wheelchair uses three degrees of camber. |
| 7 - Front Seat to Floor | Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Do not add the footrest clearance if the wheelchair will be foot-propelled® |
| 8 - Footrest Width | Measure from the inside of each legrest tubing the distance or desired distance between legrests |
| 9 - Center of Gravity | Measure from the front of the seat back post to the center of the rear axel. |
| 10 - Seat to Footrest Length | Measure from the edge of the seat upholstery to the top rear of the footrest. |
| 11 - Backrest Angle | Measure the the angle of the back post to the floor. Ninety degrees will be perpendicular to the floor, to approximate the angle from the back post to the seat, subtract two degrees from measurment for every .5" of dump |

Tracer EX2 Manual Wheelchair by Invacare Buyer’s Guide
The Tracer EX2 Manual Wheelchair by Invacare is a highly dependable independent mobility solution designed to provide reliable transport and long-term durability. Built on a robust carbon steel frame, this manual wheelchair is engineered for everyday use in both clinical environments and private residences. By combining structural strength with a practical, low-maintenance design, it ensures users can navigate indoor and outdoor surfaces with confidence and minimal effort.
Tracer Dual Axle Position Stability
A standout engineering highlight of the Tracer line is its built-in dual-axle positioning system. This integrated mechanical design allows caregivers or users to alter the seat-to-floor height between standard and hemi levels without purchasing a separate frame. Lowering the seat height allows individuals to use their feet to propel the chair forward, expanding functional independent mobility options for users with varying physical capabilities.
Invacare Carbon Steel Frame Strength
The foundation of this chair relies on the signature Invacare heavy-duty carbon steel frame, which delivers exceptional structural integrity under regular operational loads. This robust frame configuration is built to resist bending and warping over years of continuous deployment. Despite its rigid strength, the frame incorporates a cross-brace design that allows the entire structure to fold flat easily, simplifying transport in vehicle trunks or compact storage closets.
Standard Upholstery and Armrest Configurations
This model features standard dual-embossed vinyl upholstery that offers a comfortable, supportive seating area while remaining exceptionally easy to wipe down and clean. The seat and backrest materials resist stretching over time, ensuring consistent spinal support. Additionally, the chair is available with permanent or removable armrests, allowing users to select the right setup for side transfers or fitting comfortably beneath dining tables and desks.
Low-Maintenance Composite Wheel Construction
To ensure a smooth ride across diverse terrain, the wheelchair is outfitted with heavy-duty composite rear wheels and durable front casters. These wheels are designed to withstand daily impact without requiring frequent adjustments or spoke maintenance. The non-marking tires ensure that indoor flooring remains free of scuffs, while the integrated wheel locks provide immediate, reliable stationary braking when transferring in and out of the chair.
Versatile Component Options for Caregiver Assistance
Beyond self-propelling capabilities, the chair is optimized to assist caregivers during daily transport tasks. The integrated rear push handles provide ergonomic grip points for manual steering and pushing over ramps or uneven outdoor paths. The front rigging options, including swing-away footrests or elevating leg rests, can be quickly detached or adjusted to maximize leg comfort and facilitate safe entry and exit from the seating system.
