Note: The Lumex® Preferred Care Tilt-In-Space Recliner does not recline. The Tilt-In-Space feature maintains a consistent back-to-seat angle while being tilted. The Tilt-In-Space feature is ideal for changing the position and pressure points of the patient.
The Lumex Preferred Care® Recliner Series, Tilt-in-Space by Graham Field, is a healthcare seating solution designed to provide comfortable resident positioning, pressure relief, and easier lateral transfers. Model FR565TG combines a caregiver-activated tilt-in-space mechanism with self-storing, height-adjustable drop arms, an independently activated leg rest, padded armrests, and a self-adjusting Ultra-Flex suspension system.
Unlike a conventional reclining chair, the FR565TG does not recline. Its caregiver-activated tilt-in-space mechanism moves the seat and back together while maintaining a consistent back-to-seat angle. This allows caregivers to change the resident's overall position and pressure points while maintaining the existing seating relationship. The independent leg rest can also be activated from the side of the chair to provide leg elevation and additional comfort.
The self-storing, height-adjustable drop arms are designed to facilitate safer and easier lateral transfers between the recliner and another adjacent surface. The chair also features extra-wide padded armrests and side panels, a durable epoxy-coated welded-steel frame, and quick-release vinyl upholstery for easier cleaning, removal, and replacement. The vinyl upholstery is resistant to sulfide stains, mildew, and oil.

Tilt-in-Space Function
The FR565TG's defining feature is its caregiver-activated tilt-in-space mechanism. A side rocker pedal allows the caregiver to tilt the seat and back together. Unlike a conventional recliner, the chair does not simply rotate the backrest backward. The tilt-in-space feature is intended for improved resident positioning, increased comfort, and pressure relief.
Caregiver-Activated Tilt Control
The tilt-in-space mechanism is controlled by the caregiver using a side rocker pedal. The control is intended to make positioning changes accessible to the caregiver without requiring the resident to operate a conventional reclining lever.
Independently Activated Leg Rest
The caregiver can activate the leg rest from the side of the chair to provide leg elevation and additional resident comfort. This gives caregivers an additional positioning option independent of the chair's tilt-in-space function.
Ultra-Flex Suspension System
The recliner uses a unique Ultra-Flex suspension system that self-adjusts to the individual occupant. The suspension cradles the resident from head to heel, helping to virtually eliminate the risk of "bottoming out." This suspension design is intended to provide distributed support rather than relying exclusively on a rigid seating surface.
Extra-wide Padded Armrests
The chair provides a softer surface for the resident's arms. The side panels are padded to provide additional comfort and support.
Lower Seating and Arm Height
The Preferred Care series uses a lower arm and seat configuration intended to allow the chair to fit under many dining and activity tables.

Sturdy Frame Construction

5-inch Casters
The chair incorporates a directional wheel-locking system on the right rear caster. This reduces "crabbing" of the recliner and allows the chair to be moved down hallways with less effort.
