Product Measurement and Sizing Guide
| Measurement | Details |
|---|---|
| 1 - Seat Depth | Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg |
| 2 - Back Height | Measured from the seat base to the top of the wheelchair back. Depends on how much upper back support is needed, and also affects freedom for the upper body to rotate. |
| 3 - Rear Seat to Floor | Measurement from the ground to the rear seat edge. Relative to the front seat-to-floor dimension, this determines the rearward slope ("dump" or "squeeze") of the wheelchair seat |
| 4 - Hanger Angle | Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular |
| 5 - Seat Width | Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant |
| 6 - Wheel Camber | Angle of the wheel relative to the vertical. More camber improves stability and agility, but also limits ability to pass through narrow spaces. A typical daily wheelchair uses three degrees of camber. |
| 7 - Front Seat to Floor | Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Do not add the footrest clearance if the wheelchair will be foot-propelled® |
| 8 - Footrest Width | Measure from the inside of each legrest tubing the distance or desired distance between legrests |
| 9 - Center of Gravity | Measure from the front of the seat back post to the center of the rear axel. |
| 10 - Seat to Footrest Length | Measure from the edge of the seat upholstery to the top rear of the footrest. |
| 11 - Backrest Angle | Measure the the angle of the back post to the floor. Ninety degrees will be perpendicular to the floor, to approximate the angle from the back post to the seat, subtract two degrees from measurment for every .5" of dump |

9000 XDT Manual Wheelchair by Invacare Buyer’s Guide
The 9000 XDT Manual Wheelchair by Invacare is a highly adaptable mobility solution configured for users who require extra structural reinforcement or extended frame dimensions. Designed to bridge the gap between everyday transit and clinical-grade support, this system provides specialized configurations for taller and heavier individuals. Its universal compatibility with other models in the product series ensures long-term utility and hassle-free maintenance for everyday independent movement.
Durable Invacare Carbon Steel Frame Architecture
The foundation of this chair rests on an exceptionally strong carbon steel frame built to withstand continuous daily operations. Engineered by Invacare, this low-maintenance structure features double cross-braces and gusseted side components that maintain structural integrity under load. This robust engineering minimizes frame flex, yielding a highly stable, rigid feel that translates user physical energy directly into clean forward momentum without wasting effort on structural bending.
Heavy-Duty Reinforced Liners and High Weight Capacity
To support users safely, the chair features a tested 350-pound weight capacity alongside a heavy-duty reinforced interior liner system. Standard fabric seats often sag or stretch over months of regular use, which can lead to poor pelvic posture and unwanted pressure hotspots. The integrated inner lining sheets inside this upholstery prevent the seating material from stretching out, maintaining a flat, firm platform that preserves skin health and postural comfort.
Bariatric and Taller Seating Profile Dimensions
This model is specifically designed to meet bariatric mobility standards, offering seat widths that scale up to twenty-two inches for generous hip clearance. Beyond structural width, the frame is uniquely optimized for taller riders who frequently struggle to find standard equipment that fits their leg length. The generous frame configurations ensure proper physical support along the entire length of the thigh, preventing knee strain and accommodating longer body profiles smoothly.
Adjustable Triple-Axle Setup and Seat-to-Floor Heights
A key mechanical feature of this manual mobility device is the versatile triple-axle plate. This adjustable mechanism allows the rear wheels and front casters to be mounted in three separate vertical positions, varying the seat height from a low hemi profile up to an extended tall setup. This customization enables users to lower the seat for foot-propulsion or raise it to match standard dining tables and workspace surfaces seamlessly.
Smooth-Rolling Composite Wheel and Caster Combination
The chair travels on large twenty-four-inch composite rear wheels paired with sturdy front casters utilizing high-performance urethane tires. These non-flexing wheels roll smoothly across diverse floor surfaces, from thick domestic carpeting to uneven outdoor pathways, with minimal rolling resistance. Sealed precision bearings keep dirt out and eliminate the need for frequent lubrication, providing a lighter and more predictable ride with every push.
