How to Correctly Measure an Axle Pin

Finding the Right Size Axle Pins for your Wheelchair
There are three things you need to consider when you're trying to find the right size axle pins.
- Your wheelchair's axle sleeve length
- The width of any spacers you're going to add (optional)
- The width of the hubs on the wheels that are going on the chair. This is measured as the width from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other.
See this handy graphic that illustrates this with our Sumo Off-Road Wheels.

Exactly what we needed
We needed a pair of quick release wheelchair axles to adapt the SUMO all terrain wheelchair wheels to our Karman S-ERGO wheelchair. We also needed wheel bearings to provide sufficient offset for the wider SUMOs. It took a few tries but the result is well worth the effort and the cost.
