Product information for Handrims CURVE
Our CURVE handrims - the perfect ergonomics for every movement.
For whom are CURVE handrims suitable?
For wheelchair users with complete manual function.
What are the advantages of CURVE handrims?
The innovative profile shape gives you a power-saving, controlled grip and stabilizes your wrist. Reduced hand fatigue compared to a conventional hand grip reduces cramping, reduces pain in carpal tunnel syndrome and creates a relaxed, sustainable driving experience.
Which profile size and coating do we recommend?
Wheelchair users with small hands should use the small CURVE profile. For larger and larger hands we recommend the larger CURVE L profile. If you like to descend quickly at higher temperatures, you should use the anodised surface.
How to Measure Your Handrim Dimensions
Your wheels on your wheelchair have either a Tab Mount or a Rivnut system for securing the handrims in place. Use the chart below to determine what your wheels have and what size you need.

Carbolife Handrims CURVE (Pair) Buyer’s Guide
The Carbolife Handrims CURVE (Pair) are ergonomic wheelchair pushrims designed to improve propulsion efficiency, grip control, and overall hand comfort during daily mobility. These handrims are mounted to wheelchair wheels and are used by manual wheelchair users to generate movement, making them a critical component for propulsion performance and long-term usability.
Construction of the Carbolife Handrims CURVE
The Carbolife Handrims CURVE are manufactured using high-performance materials engineered to balance strength, durability, and weight. The structure is designed to maintain rigidity during repeated propulsion cycles while resisting wear from constant hand contact.
This construction supports consistent performance in both indoor and outdoor environments. The materials are selected to withstand daily use without compromising structural integrity over time.
Ergonomic Shape of the Carbolife Handrims CURVE
The Carbolife Handrims CURVE feature a contoured profile that follows the natural shape of the hand during propulsion. This ergonomic design allows for a more secure grip compared to standard round pushrims.
By aligning with natural hand positioning, the curved shape helps distribute contact pressure more evenly. This can contribute to improved control and reduced strain during repeated push cycles.
Grip Surface and Contact Control
The grip surface of these handrims is designed to provide consistent traction during propulsion. A stable contact surface allows users to maintain control without excessive force, especially during acceleration or directional changes.
This design supports reliable performance across varying conditions, including indoor flooring and outdoor pavement. Maintaining consistent grip is essential for controlled wheelchair movement.
Propulsion Efficiency and Performance
These pushrims are engineered to improve propulsion efficiency by optimizing hand placement and force transfer. The ergonomic profile allows users to apply force more effectively during each push stroke.
Improved efficiency can contribute to smoother forward motion and reduced effort over time. This is particularly relevant for users who rely on manual propulsion throughout the day.
Compatibility with Wheelchair Wheels
The Carbolife Handrims CURVE are designed to be compatible with a wide range of manual wheelchair wheels. Proper installation depends on matching mounting hole patterns and rim sizes.
These handrims are typically used as a replacement or upgrade from standard pushrims. Ensuring compatibility with existing wheel hardware is necessary before installation.
Weight and Impact on Wheelchair Handling
The handrims are constructed to maintain a lightweight profile while still providing durability. Keeping component weight low helps preserve overall wheelchair responsiveness and maneuverability.
A lighter pushrim setup can support quicker acceleration and easier handling. This contributes to more efficient daily mobility.
Carbolife Curve Wheelchair Handrims Durability and Long-Term Use
The materials used in these handrims are selected to resist wear from repeated contact and environmental exposure. The design supports long-term use without significant degradation in performance.
Durability is important for users who depend on consistent propulsion mechanics. These handrims are built to maintain their shape and function over extended periods.
Maintenance and Daily Care
Routine maintenance helps ensure consistent performance of wheelchair pushrims. Users should periodically inspect mounting points and the grip surface for signs of wear.
Cleaning the handrims and removing debris can help maintain reliable contact during propulsion. Regular care supports long-term usability and performance.
Carbolife Handrims CURVE (Pair) Review
The Carbolife Handrims CURVE are designed to improve propulsion efficiency, grip control, and ergonomic interaction between the user and the wheelchair. Their contoured shape and durable construction support consistent performance across daily mobility environments.
With their compatibility across many wheelchair wheel systems and focus on efficient force transfer, these handrims function as a practical upgrade for users seeking improved control and propulsion mechanics.
