Graham Field Foerster Sponge Forceps Buyer’s Guide
The Graham Field Foerster Sponge Forceps (Grafco line) are surgical-grade, stainless steel positioning instruments engineered to securely hold gauze, sponges, or dressings during medical and surgical procedures. Designed with specialized oval fenestrated tips and a reliable ratchet locking mechanism, they provide exceptional control, tissue safety, and versatility for clinical care, wound management, and minor surgical setups.
High-Grade Stainless Steel Construction
Crafted from clinical-grade stainless steel, the Foerster Sponge Forceps offer superior resistance to corrosion, rust, and wear. The durable metallic build withstands repeated exposure to fluids, aggressive sterilization chemicals, and standard autoclaving cycles without degrading.
Graham Field Foerster Sponge Forceps Fenestrated Oval Jaws
Featuring smooth or serrated fenestrated (looped) tips, the open oval jaw design allows optimal clamping force while preventing excessive pressure on tissues. The fenestration enables precise gripping of surgical sponges, gauze pads, and swabs without tearing or slippage during wound preparation.
Ratchet Locking Clamp Mechanism
Outfitted with a multi-position ratchet locking handle, the forceps enable users to lock the jaws at varying levels of compression. This hands-free clamping feature ensures consistent tension on held materials or tissues, reducing hand fatigue during lengthy clinical procedures.
Graham Field Foerster Sponge Forceps Straight and Curved Configurations
Available in a standard 9.5-inch length with straight or curved jaw options, the forceps provide maximum versatility. The straight model is ideal for superficial dressing applications and general prep, while the curved design offers enhanced line-of-sight and maneuverability in hard-to-reach or deep anatomical sites.
Atraumatic and Secure Surface Options
Offered in both smooth and serrated jaw finishes, clinicians can select the exact grip style needed. Smooth tips minimize tissue trauma when handling delicate structures, while serrated tips deliver extra friction and hold on dense gauze or fluid-soaked sponges.
Autoclavable and Reusable Design
Engineered for strict infection control standards, the seamless stainless steel design allows thorough cleaning and full autoclave sterilization. The robust construction maintains precise alignment, smooth hinge operation, and jaw tension across repeated sterilizations.
