Wheelchair frame type Differentiation

TiLite provides consumers with a variety of frame options to meet their specific demands. This covers more than just the obvious difference between a folding or rigid chair. It offers a variety of frame designs in both categories, as well as varied frame materials and pricing points. It further distinguishes the rigid chair range with single (mono) and dual tube designs, each with its unique set of advantages.

Mono tube designs are the most common because there is only one frame tube that follows the body, whereas dual tube designs include an additional lower tube for added strength and performance. The TRA just rolls better, thanks to its titanium dual-tube frame, TiFit accuracy, and full adjustability.

Frame Style

Heavy Duty Frame 350 lb. weight limit. Q'Straint Adaptable Frame is no charge. Reinforced Frame is no charge. When Rear Seat Width and Seat Depth both equal 20", Heavy Duty Frame is no charge. Rear Seat Width

Measure from outside of seat tube at back post to the outside of the opposite seat tube at back post.

Front Seat Taper

Measure from inside of front frame tube to inside of opposite front frame tube. Taper starts approximately 9" from seat back post.

Seat Depth

Measure from front of back post to the front edge of seat sling. Frame bend will start 0.5" in front of seat sling unless Custom Frame Depth is specified or the combination of specifications affects the rolling dynamics of the chair.

Custom Frame Depth

Measure from front of seat sling to beginning of frame bend. When Seat Depth and Custom Frame Depth together equal 20", Custom Frame Depth is $568.

Ergonomic Seat

Measure from front of back post to beginning of upward bend of seat tube. Requires manual design review, and will be processed through our Designs Unlimited department. With Ergonomic Seat, Tension Adjustable by Straps (Seat Upholstery) is no charge.

Front Seat Height

Measure from floor to top of seat tube at front edge of seat sling. Adjusts in 0.5" increments.

Rear Seat Height

Measure from floor to top of seat tube at the back post. Adjusts in 0.5" increments.

Front Angle

Measure angle from frame front to floor.

Overall Frame Length

Measure from front of backrest to front edge of footrest.

Footrest Width

Standard Front End

Measure from inside of front frame tube to inside of opposite front frame tube.

V-Front End

Measure from inside of front frame tube to inside of opposite front frame tube 2.5" above footrest. Titanium Footrests have 1" of adjustment up and down.

Seat Back Height

Folding, Adjustable Height Seat Back: Measure from top of back post to top of seat tube at rear of frame.

Seat Back Angle: Measure angle from front of back post to floor. Angles greater than 90 degrees will be more open, and angles less than 90 degrees will be more closed.

Center of Gravity: Measure from front of back post at the seat tube to the center of the rear axle.

Rear Wheel Spacing: Measure from outside of seat back post to inside of rear tire.
