FreeWheel Wheelchair Attachment - K0108
In seconds it quickly and securely clamps to the solid footrest of your rigid-frame manual chair or any folding chair using the Freewheel folding wheelchair adaptor. Once attached, the FreeWheel gently lifts your front casters off the ground turning you into a 3-wheel, all-terrain chair.
With the FreeWheel you can safely push over surfaces that would typically be impossible! Instead of struggling or popping "wheelies" to go over grass, curbs, or down dirt trails, you can now safely push over almost any obstacle. Not only does the FreeWheel make it easier to push yourself, it makes it easier for anyone who is pushing you and you'll feel much more secure being pushed.
"The FreeWheel is the most innovative piece of adaptive equipment available."
- Andrew Hippert
The FreeWheel comes with all you need to set it up on your chair. The initial installation may take approximately 15 min., after that the FreeWheel clamps on in seconds. When you are not using the FreeWheel you can store it on the perch on the back of your chair.

FreeWheel Owner's Manual
Standard wheelchair frames have a distance of 4-3/4" from the top of the footrest to the floor. If your chair has a greater distance, please choose the correct measurements from the option dropdown above.
How to choose the right custom option:
- If your footplate is from 4 1/2"-6 1/2" from the top of the footrest to the floor, you would choose 5 1/2 (freewheel)
- If your footplate is from 5 1/2"-7 1/2" from the top of the footrest to the floor, you would choose 6 1/2 (freewheel)
- If your footplate is from 6 1/2"-8 1/2" from the top of the footrest to the floor, you would choose 7 1/2 (freewheel)
- If your footplate is from 7 1/2"-9 1/2" from the top of the footrest to the floor, you would choose 8 1/2 (freewheel)
*For a child, pick the footplate distance that allows some room for growth.
*If you have a folding wheelchair, please choose the folding chair option above.

Definitely worth it! 5 out of 5

As advertised. I am very happy with the purchase. Gravel that I previously could not navigate even with help is now accessible to me on my own. The FreeWheel is also great for flat surfaces because it greatly reduces vibration I normally felt from the front casters.
Lives up to the hype 5 out of 5

The FreeWheel does make otherwise difficult or impossible to navigate terrain on a standard wheelchair accessible. The freedom to explore rocky, sandy, and grassy areas have increased my independence.

I had tossed around getting this device for a while to make the many times I decide to off road it in my manual chair easier. I finally did when I was told I couldn't compete in a half marathon with a standard manual chair. Living Spinal not only answered every question I had but they got the device to me super fast so so I had it in time for my race. They clearly are passionate about making sure that every customers needs are met with any questions answered and concerns alleviated. I could not have done the race without this device had I been permitted and it's so easy off road it is a game changer, life changer.

Independence game changer! 5 out of 5

Right after I got the FreeWheel and got it adjusted properly (in person by the awesome guys at Living Spinal - you guys rock!) I used it two weekends in a row - one weekend on a ranch in Northern CA, and the weekend after when I went wine tasting in Santa Barbara for my birthday. I was so impressed with how easily I was able to go over all the terrain without any issues, and how easy it is to put the FreeWheel on and then take it off and hook it to the chair when I was done. I wish I’d had this thing for the last 8 years! I feel like so many more activities are just a non-issue for me now that I know I can use it to get through gravel, grass, dirt, etc. I’ve always been willing to trek wherever but being able to do it on my own, without help, is a total game changer for my independence. This is a fantastic product and if you're going to purchase it, do it from Living Spinal - they were incredibly helpful!

This product changed my outlook of going to the park with my son and just going over any terrain. Rolling down a gravel path is as easy as a sidewalk. Boosted my confidence and truly gives Freedom, hence "Freewheel". As I've bragged to friends, It is worth every penny of credit card for me lol.
Works with the SmartDrive 5 out of 5

I bought the Freewheel with my SmartDrive. I can't think of a better combination for my wheelchair! I'm not looking down at the ground anymore. I don't have to worry about cracks and rocks while underway with my SmartDrive, which is important when you're cruising fast... as I do!!
Even at the gym 5 out of 5

I got the Freewheel to help my wheelchair roll through our gravel driveway and around parks, but I quickly found out that it really stabilized me when I was at the gym. I didn't feel any risk of tipping forward when I was grabbing weights from the rack. You do have to get used to the extra space it takes up, but it's not a problem.
Worth the investment... 5 out of 5

I'm a pretty active girl and wasn't happy with how my casters were limiting me outside. I saved up and got this FreeWheel. Love the red :) I noticed that I'm not looking at the ground as much as before. Yay!!
Perfect for travel! 5 out of 5

I'm a HUGE fan of the FreeWheel. I wasn't sure it was something I needed at first, but after traveling overseas for the first time with it I realized it gave me the accessibility I needed to smoothly traverse cobblestones, rough terrain, and even sand!
As the only wheelchair user in my tour group, I truly don't think I could've kept up with everyone without having the FreeWheel. It's given me more peace of mind in regards to independent traveling and broader environment experiences. I won't leave home without it now!
Here's the article I wrote about my travels with the Freewheel:
